Butoh is an avant-garde art form born in post-war Japan. Known for its stark, often surreal movements and the iconic white-painted face and body.
In these photographs I go beyond movement, capturing the beauty of Butoh’s expression in frozen moments. To me these images are not just portraits of dancers, but reflections of Butoh’s silent, powerful language of transformation and inner dialogue.
