Raised in Saint Petersburg, in a family of art historians, I was shaped early by a world of visual culture and human-made beauty. This environment formed my sensitivity to form, presence, and the silent language of images long before photography became my medium.
My professional path began in filmmaking and television, where I learned to think in sequences, movement, and atmosphere. Over time, I was drawn toward photography for its immediacy — for its ability to hold a complete emotional state within a single frame. Over the past fourteen years, my life and work have unfolded across continents, with India becoming my current base.
My work centers on fine art portraiture. I am interested in photographing people in a direct and attentive way, focusing on the body, expression, and the emotional state of the moment rather than on constructed narratives.
Within this practice, Butoh photography forms a focused and evolving strand. I photograph Butoh as a visual language attentive to impermanence, subtle transformation, and the fragility of presence. I have presented two exhibitions dedicated entirely to Butoh photography.
Today, my practice is rooted in fine art portraiture. I am interested in moments where presence takes precedence over narrative, and where the image allows space for ambiguity, depth, and personal interpretation.
